Audra Harders in Real Time

I Write Stories;

They Become Books.

Inspirational Romance Author

You’ll find the theme of my books reflect ranching life in Colorado. I love writing about cowboys. Here in my little haven along the Front Range of Colorado, I’m surrounded by agriculture and livestock. We have hay and alfalfa thriving in the fields around us during the growing season, and then in the winter (after summer tourists have headed home), herds of horses come down from the mountain riding stables and forage in the fields for a few months. The cowboys and ranchers primarily work with costly satellite-guided field equipment and versatile ATVs rather than ropes and horses, but I do occasionally catch a glimpse of a cowboy sitting tall in the saddle. Of course, not all cowboys fit the mold I’ve pressed for them in my books, but, for the most part, the bunch around here are straightforward guys who work hard, have fun, and most of all, love the Lord, Jesus Christ.

I write “rugged stories with heart” featuring cowboys who haven’t a clue about relationships rescued by ladies who think they have all the answers. What kind of fun is that??

I’m not just all about the cowboys, though. Colorado is home to some of the most beautiful, small mountain towns that have sustained the test of time. It would be a shame not to populate a fictional town or two with fictional characters who love their homes as much as I love to write about them. And if a location might sound suspiciously like a town you’ve visited – well – my inspiration has to come from someplace, right?

But, wait! The fun doesn’t stop there. I’m also crafting a Victorian romance series set in Yorkshire and London. It’s an interesting project and time-consuming as my research takes me beyond the mountain life near my home to miles away to across the pond. Navigating an era and culture I adore, but have not lived, sparks ideas and offers opportunities to add a bit of history in the mix, as well. Hopefully, I’ll finagle a trip to northern England in my near future to soak in the atmosphere…and maybe meet a peer or two!!

In my spare time, I attempt crocheting and my family loves me enough not to laugh at my not-quite-so-perfect projects.

Cooking is a talent that evades me, though I keep on trying. Books with recipes boasting 3-4-5 ingredients line my shelves.

I love to sew quilting projects, not clothing. So many great fabrics catch my eye in fabric and craft stores. The trick isn’t in the sewing ~ it’s in choosing the right color combinations.

My husband, besides being handsome, is also a very patient man : ) Our two adult children know me and love me, and visit home as often as they can. And Corgis!! Our two little gremlins leave a trail of fun and crumbs wherever they go.

Life is good.
